This Itinerary has been specially designed to combine the Capital Cities of North & South Iceland. Individual travel arrangements are made, thus retaining your freedom to do as you please.
During your stay in Reykjavik it is possible to visit most of the major tourist attractions in the South, either by scheduled bus, hired car or on a guided excursion.
Whilst staying in Iceland’s Northern Capital - Akureyri, guided excursions to two major attractions are included.

DAY 1 UK - ICELAND
Fly UK/Keflavik. On arrival transfer by the ‘Flybus’ Service to your accommodation in Reykjavik.
DAY 2 REYKJAVIK - At leisure
DAY 3 REYKJAVIK - At leisure
DAY 4 REYKJAVIK - At leisure.

DAY 5 REYKJAVIK - AKUREYRI
Transfer from Reykjavik to Akureyri:
OPTION 1: BY AIR (JOURNEY TIME 45 MINUTES).
Air Iceland operate at least 4 flights daily from Reykjavik City Airport.
OPTION 2: BY SCHEDULED BUS (Journey Time Approx. 6 Hours). BSI operate a daily service by the ring road with a number of short stops en-route. Departing Reykjavik Bus Terminal 08:30. Arriving Akureyri Bus Terminal around 14:30.
OPTION 3: BY HIGHLAND BUS ‘KJOLUR’ ROUTE (Journey Time Approx. 9 Hours.)
During July & August BSI operate a daily service through Iceland’s interior, over the ‘Kjolur’ Highland Route taking you on a breathtaking journey through a desert wilderness. Passing the great Geysir area, Gullfoss Waterfall and Hveravellir - a geothermal area with natural hot springs. Departing Reykjavik Bus Terminal 09:00. Arriving Akureyri Bus Terminal 18:00.
On arrival you will be met and transferred to your accommodation in Akureyri.
DAY 6 AKUREYRI - LAKE MYVATN - AKUREYRI
Guided tour by coach to one of Iceland’s most fascinating and enchanting Northern regions - Lake Myvatn, famed for its wondrous scenery. Leaving Akureyri, along the fjord of Eyjafjordur, through the valley of Frjoskadalur with its lovely meandering river via the scenic Godafoss Waterfall onwards to Lake Myvatn. A protected Nature Reserve -rich in natural elements such as lava fields, fissures and mud pools - an absolute paradise for nature lovers.
DAY 7 AKUREYRI - HUSAVIK WHALE WATCHING - AKUREYRI
Guided tour to the delightful fishing village of Husavik situated on the North Eastern shores, a typical Icelandic town with its picturesque Harbour. Husavik is without a doubt the Whale Watching ‘Capital’ of Iceland. In recent years North Sailing have enjoyed an incredible success rate for whale sightings.
Down at the harbour we board one of the boats ‘Knorrinn’ or ‘Haukur’ heading West across the bay, excitement soon grips both passengers and crew on the look out for whales.
Minke whales are seen on almost every excursion with some spectacular sightings over the years.
Note: Whale Watching from Husavik is not possible during the months of April & October, therefore, an alternative excursion will be offered.
DAY 8 AKUREYRI - REYKJAVIK - UK
After breakfast, transfer to Akureyri Airport to connect with a flight by Air Iceland to Reykjavik City Airport. Your return transfer back to Keflavik International Airport has been arranged by the ‘Flybus’ Service which departs from Reykjavik City Air-Terminal (Beside BSI Bus Terminal) 21/2 - 3 Hours before the departure time of your flight back to the UK. Note: This Itinerary can be extended to include additional nights in Reykjavik and/or Akureyri.
