Saudarkrokur is located on the northwest Iceland in the region of Skagafjordur, with many interesting places to visit. This sparsely populated region stretches from Bru in the west to Siglufjordur in the east. Saudarkrokur is the largest urban centre of the area.

Saudarkrokur or krokurinn as it is known in day to day language is considered to be a sports town. There is a sports centre, horse riding hall, a swimming pool, a golf course and 15km from town is a skiing slope on Tindastoll - reached by using a ski lift covering 1150 metres.
