Uummannaq is one of the best places on the planet to go dogsledding with local seal hunters during off peak periods.

There are walks to the Uummannaq mountains but in general there is very limited area to walk or hike in.

The geology is extraordinary due to the impact of Uummannaq with the mainland in prehistoric time.
