Words cannot express the mystery and wonder of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula! The Snaefellsnes glacier is renowned for its mystical powers. The cone-shaped, ice covered strato-volcano Snaefellsjokull has captured the imagination of people all over the world ever since Jules Verne wrote ‘The Journey to the Centre of the Earth’ in 1871. In this famous novel, the imaginary journey begins in the dormant volcano and ends at the Stromboli volcano in Italy. After an exhilarating walk from the rock formations at Arnarstapi to the Hotel Hellnar, known for their ecological emphasis, we stop for lunch (optional) and later another short walk in Djupalonssandur is on the agenda. Also visited is the new Settlement Centre, before returning to Reykjavik. Note: Some walking is required on this tour.
