The Icelandic Sagas are renowned throughout the World and the West coast of Icelandwas the setting for many of them. This was a deciding factor in locating the new Icelandic Settlement Centre here, and this is where our tour commences. After a visit to this informative venue we follow in the footsteps of the Viking warrior poet Egil Skalla-Grimsson and learn of his feats and exploits as we travel through the countryside where he grew up and later ruled as a chieftain. As we continue to tour the beautiful countryside learning of the Icelandic Sagas we visit Reykholt, the homestead of Snorri Sturluson who was the most significant Nordic poet of the middle ages, concluding our stay with a visit to the remarkable waterfalls known as Hraunfossar and Deildartunguhver the largest hot spring in the northern hemisphere.
On completion, the Saga Circle Tour will have provided the traveller with a wonderfully informative and entertaining insight into the golden days of the Commonwealth of Iceland and the Settlement Era.
