DAY 1 UK/Iceland
Overnight Reykjavik.

DAY 2 Thingvellir National Park - South Shore - Vik
The tour begins with a drive past the Nesjavellir geothermal area to Lake Thingvallavatn, Iceland’s largest lake, and Thingvellir National Park, the ancient site of the parliament. Continue along the south shore and stop to admire the
waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss before continuing to *Dyrhólaey nature reserve (*closed during nesting season Mid May – 23 June).

DAY 3 Vík – Skaftafell National Park – Jökulsárlón – Höfn
Cross Eldhraun, the largest mass of lava ever to flow on earth in historical time, before reaching the small village Kirkjubæjarklaustur, a former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent. The tour continues over Skei∂arársandur sands to Skaftafell National Park. Continue to Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon.

DAY 4 Höfn – East Fjords – Egilssta∂ir
From Höfn drive over the heights of Almannaskar∂ pass, stop to admire the majestic coastline. On to the towering mountains plunging vertically into the sea that form the magnificent East Fjords. Visit Petra’s renowned stone collection before reaching Egilssta∂ir.

DAY 5 Egilssta∂ir – Lake Myvatn
Explore the empty vastness of the highland desert plateau Mö∂rudalsöræfi, heading to Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall. Continue towards Námaskar∂ Pass with its boiling mud pools and vibrant colours. Explore the natural beauty of the Lake Myvatn area with highlights such as Dimmuborgir, the pseudocraters near Skútusta∂ir and the salmon river Laxá.

DAY 6 Lake Myvatn – Akureyri
Head towards the bustling northern port of Akureyri with a stop at the magnificent Go∂afoss waterfall. Akureyri boasts some of the finest timber buildings in the country, beautifully restored to their original glory. Because of its excellent natural harbour and good accessibility, Akureyri has become the northern centre of education, culture, trade and industry.

DAY 7 Akureyri – Borgarfjör∂ur – Selfoss
Drive through the majestic mountains and narrow passes which lead to Skagafjör∂ur for an introduction of the unique Icelandic horse, with it fifth gait – the tolt. We then cross the Holtavör∂uhei∂i plateau to Borgarfjör∂ur, in the beautiful Borgarnes area, stopping to visit the Hraunfossar waterfall and Deildartunguhver, Iceland’s most productive hot spring, before continuing over the breathtaking Kaldidalur mountain pass.

DAY 8 Gullfoss – Geysir – Blue Lagoon – Reykjavík
Explore Gullfoss the ‘Golden Waterfall’ and the nearby Geyser hot spring area to see the famous great Geysir and Strokkur, as well as numerous other hot springs and boiling mud pools. Continue to the Blue Lagoon where you can have a refreshing bathe in the warm, mineral-rich waters (optional) before returning to Reykjavik.
