DAY 1 UK/Iceland
Overnight Reykjavik.
DAY 2 South Shore
Depart Reykjavík heading south through the town of Hverager∂i and the surrounding fertile farmlands with numerous glacial rivers on the way to Skogar. Continue to *Dyrhólaey, a nature reserve, ready to explore. Continue to Kirkjubæjarklaustur, former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent. (*Dyrhólaey closed during nesting season mid May - 23 June)

DAY 3 Skaftafell National Park – Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon
Depart Kirkjubæjarklaustur for Skaftafell National Park, one of Iceland’s most outstanding areas of natural beauty, dominated by Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest ice cap. Continuing to the Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, where huge icebergs float and grind together in the still, deep waters of the lagoon.
Overnight Kirkjubæjarklaustur area
DAY 4 Landmannalaugar or Thórsmörk valley
Strike out along the Fjallabakslei∂ interior track to Landmannalaugar, a magnificent area surrounded by colourful rhyolite mountains with the option of bathing in a natural warm pool. From Landmannalaugar to Thjórsárdalur valley, dominated by the celebrated volcano Hekla.
Overnight Fludir area.
Note: If the road to Landmannalaugar is closed due to road conditions (spring/early summer) the tour goes through lava fields and outwash sands formed by floods from the glacial volcano Katla onto Vík, passing two beautiful waterfalls to Thórsmörk valley.
DAY 5 Gullfoss – Thingvellir National Park – Reykjavík
Depart for the Geysir area to see the famous great Geysir and Strokkur, a hot spring that spouts every few minutes. On to Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most impressive waterfalls. The next stop before heading back to Reykjavik is Thingvellir National Park, where the ancient parliament met for centuries on the shores of Iceland’s largest lake ‘Thingvallavatn’. Overnight Reykjavik.
